Over the last few weeks, I have found myself in somewhat of a “creative funk”. I have not felt like taking photos on a personal basis. I LOVE my job, and going out and meeting new families and photographing their connections. I love getting home and going through the photos, and finding that I’ve “nailed the shot”! But, especially over the school holidays, the drive was not there to create photos on a personal basis. Perhaps, even though having all my children together at home is wonderful, there was no room for creative thought. I am a creature who needs a little space, time to think, time to revive.
But over the last few days, the creative urge is starting to come back. I have found myself noticing little things (usually as I’m driving along) and wishing I had brought my camera with me. Little things like the light streaming out from behind a tree at sunset, looking along a row of deciduous trees in a line disappearing into the fog, a single window on a building glinting with the sunset through more fog (we’ve had a lot of fog here this week!), the beautiful colour of the sunset reflected in the textured clouds at sunset. All these things are urging me to pick up my camera again, to carry it with me everywhere so that I can capture this beauty as I see it.
I hope to be able to share some of this beauty with you as I capture it, and take my camera out with me more often!
